STRABAG to rehabilitate Gazela Bridge in Belgrade

STRABAG has secured EUR58 million ($79 million) contract from Serbian company Putevi Srbije, for the complete rehabilitation of Gazela Bridge, the most important highway bridge over the Sava river in Belgrade.
The Gazela Bridge connects Novi Belgrade with Belgrade and is one of the most important bridges of Europe on pan-European Corridor 10.
It is a steel bridge with 332 meters lengths and 27.5 meters width, and three lanes in both directions. Included in the contract will be the rehabilitation of the concrete approach ramps. The construction period is expected to be of 22 months, with the work expected to begin from April 2010 and will be completed by May 2012.
With some 75,500 employees, Europe’s construction group STRABAG SE generated a construction output volume of EUR13 billion ($18 billion) in the 2009 financial year. STRABAG’s activities span the entire construction industry including building construction and civil engineering, transportation infrastructures, tunneling and cover the entire value-added chain in the field of construction.
