North Midland secures subcontracts on A46 widening
Published: 11-Mar-2010
North Midland Construction has won two contracts worth a total of GBP2.75 million ($4.12 billion) on the A46 road widening scheme between Newark and Widmerpool in Nottinghamshire, UK.
The Nottinghamshire-based contractor’s utilities division has secured a contract with Balfour Beatty - the main contractor on the Highways Agency scheme - to install new water mains as well as BT and Virgin Media ducts along the A46.
North Midland’s civil engineering division will also carry out drainage diversions at Flintham, near Newark. The work would involve using a special bore and the installation of 800 metres of new sewer pipework 4-5m below the existing A46 carriageway. Work is due to begin in March 2010 and is expected to be completed within the next 12 months.
North Midland Construction is engaged in civil engineering, building and public works contracting.
