Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group (OSEG) has selected Barry Hobin and Ritchard Brisbin to design the redevelopment scheme of Lansdowne Park – a multi-purpose sports and entertainment facility in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
Both architects, Barry Hobin and Ritchard Brisbin are based in Ottawa, and they will be in charge of the architectural style and urban design of much of the redevelopment project.
Lansdowne Park contains Frank Clair Stadium, the Civic Centre arena, the Aberdeen Pavilion hall, Coliseum and other exhibition buildings. The park is also the site of the annual Central Canada Exhibition.
The plan includes creation of a new expanded green space and revitalization of the existing stadium and arena for sports and entertainment events. The project is intended to make a model urban facility where people can go to walk, cycle, shop, work, live, and play in an environment respectful of the local architectural heritage.
Rebuilding the Frank Clair Stadium and Civic Centre, together with an appropriate mix stores, restaurants, offices, theaters and housing are also under the plans.
Toronto-based Cannon Design will be responsible for the architectural design of the retail buildings and the layout of Frank Clair Stadium.
